It won’t be long before the Riverfront Amphitheater is complete, and we’re itching to see the finished product.

Like Selma City, we realize the structure, meant to serve as a performing arts facility, has the ability to be a catalyst for development and inspire and encourage more growth in the area.

Selma Planning and Development Director James Benderson said Wednesday that the city will host four large events each year and several smaller ones per quarter. And Selma City is also considering allowing the residents to rent out the building for their own events, he said.

So when people are looking for somewhere to go to relax with family and friends, they’ll have more options in Selma.

Although the project has seen some setbacks due to bidding errors and small weather-related issues, we’re happy to know that things are now running smoothly and the grand opening is set for spring.

Despite the hiccups, the hard work and dedication put into the project will all be worth it when the community can enjoy the city’s new building. We appreciate Selma City for making it happen.
