Letter to the editor questions city’s upkeep

Dear editor,

We recently purchased some bikes to ride and send time with kids. We tried to ride to Bloch Park, but the sidewalks are in terrible shape with tree limbs overhanging, grass growing across and many cracks and sharp edges which are dangerous to traffic. So we hauled the bikes to the park and were having a pleasant ride. We stopped by the skate park only to see filthy words spray-painted on the ground and a glass pipe on the table.

After trying to explain this to my kids we rode to the battle bridge to see someone’s underwear on the ground. We then rode to the playground where one of four swings is working.

I’m asking how do we fix this? I see promotions about showing visitors a nice Selma, but what about the citizens? Why can’t tax dollars support a clean park for people to take their families to?

A lot of people use these sidewalks and the park, so why isn’t it kept up?
