The other alleged shooter, Demetrious Collins, was shot and has a warrant out for his arrest for shooting into an occupied vehicle, according to Lt. Curtis Muhannad, head of the Selma’s Criminal Investigation Division.

The Selma Police Department responded to Lawrence Street at approximately 3:24 p.m. in reference to a shooting into an occupied vehicle, Muhannad said.

Officers made contact with the four occupants of the vehicle, which included Pritchett, who was driving.

They advised police that Collins fired several shots into the vehicle they were in at the intersection of Minter Avenue and Lawrence Street before fleeing the scene on foot, according to Muhannad.

The female passenger in the vehicle was left with minor injuries from shattered glass. She was taken to the Vaughan Regional Medical Center’s emergency room for treatment.

Major Crime Detectives were on the scene conducting the investigation when they were advised that Pritchett also fired several shots at Collins, according to Muhannad.

While at the scene, detectives received information Collins was shot and an ambulance was requested on the 1400 block of Martin Luther King Street.

Detectives went to the location, a block from the shooting, and found Collins with a gunshot wound to his right leg.

A Care Ambulance provided first aid to Collins and transported him to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released before officers could detain him.

Muhannad said the hospital couldn’t force anyone to stay at the hospital once they have been treated.

“Officers interviewed Mr. Pritchett at the police department and found that the motive behind the shooting was over a dog that Mr. Collins had supposedly stolen from him,” Muhannad said.

Selma’s Crime Scene Unit recovered six 9mm shell casing from the scene and located the weapon Pritchett reportedly used in the shooting.

Second-degree assault is a Class C felony. If convicted, Pritchett could face one to 10 years in prison and up to $15,000 in fines.

“Anyone that offers [Collins] aid while a warrant has been issued for his arrest, could also face charges,” Muhannad said.

The Selma Police Department is asking anyone with information that could lead to Collin’s arrest to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-442-7463.

The call will be confidential, and you could receive a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
