Dixie Flips compete in Alabama State Championship

The Dixie Flips Gymnastics team traveled to Mobile on Dec. 5-7 to compete in the Alabama State Championship. Kicking off the weekend was Evey Craig, level three. She placed twelfth on vault, seventh on bars, eighth on beam tenth on floor and tenth in all-around. Jaden McGee, Madalyn Stevens and Molly Bohannon competed Saturday morning.  Jaden placed third on vault, ninth on bars, fourth on beam fourth on floor and sixth in all-around.  Madalyn placed eleventh on vault, eighth on bars, eleventh on beam, tenth on floor and eleventh in all-around. Molly placed ninth on vault, twelfth on bars, twelfth on beam, eleventh on floor and twelfth all around.

Next were Brooke Egbert and Cameran Duncan. Brooke placed twelfth on vault, sixth on bars, ninth on beam, eleventh on floor and eleventh in all-around.  Cameran placed ninth on vault, fourth on bars, twelfth on beam, sixth on floor and eighth in all-around.

Keenan Lee McHugh and Shyanna Montoro competed next with Keenan Lee placing tenth on vault, eleventh on bars, sixth on bars, sixth on beam, second on floor and ninth in all-around.  Shyana placed sixth on vault, ninth on bars, sixth on beam, seventh on floor and seventh in all-around. Finishing out a long day of competition was McCann Perkins. She placed eighth on vault, eighth on bars, fifth on beam, fifth on floor and seventh in all-around.

Ruth Stevens wrapped up the competition for the Dixie Flips on Sunday morning. She placed eleventh on vault, fifth on bars, third on beam, third on floor and fourth in all-around.

The coaches were pleased with the performances, and the girls are working hard to get ready for the spring season. They will travel to Tuscaloosa in January to compete in the Crimson Classic. For class information contact coach Tracey Craig at (334) 431-0041.
