Selma officers responded to the 300 block of Highland Avenue about 4:50 p.m. Friday after receiving a call about a stabbing victim.

When officers arrived, they found a 21-year-old woman, who had been cut several times in the chest, according to SPD Lt. Curtis Muhannad.

The woman was taken by a private vehicle to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, where she received treatment.

The suspect was still as the scene as well. Tara Nicole Neely, 22, was arrested and taken to the Selma Police Department. Officers recovered a pocketknife that was used in the assault.

“So far, detectives have determined that the females are engaged in a conflict over a male that they both are seeing,” Muhannad said. “The victim invited the suspect to meet her in the parking lot of the crime scene by text message.”

Neely was arrested on probable cause of second-degree assault and booked at the Dallas County Jail with a bond of $25,000.

Second-degree assault is a Class C felony. If convicted, Neely could face one to 10 years in prison and fines up to $15,000.
