“This conference is all about souls,” said Stephanie Meads, the operations manager for the conference. “We’re there to kind of push people into position and push them into the power that God has given them. We hope we can help people have a relationship with God that have never had one before.”

The conference begins on Monday, Dec. 8 with a “Power Hour” at Little Rock Baptist Church on Earl Goodwin Parkway. The conference will then move to Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church on Legrande Street through Wednesday. The nighttime events are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. each night.

“We’re a small Baptist church, and we want to show everyone that people will come if you show a genuine interest in what it is they have to bring to the table,” said Kerry Horton, pastor of Little Rock Baptist Church. “It’s not so much about what Little Rock Baptist Church can do. [This conference] is important for Selma.”

Horton said he hopes this conference can be a guiding light for people who need help and help change people’s perception of church.

“Our city is good at having church, but I want people who understand ministry and the power of the spirit of God,” Horton said. “That is what I’m looking for in this conference — a true move of God’s spirit so that they see something different. It can create a culture of ministry that we can sustain for many years to come.”

The conference will be open for the public and free of charge.

Horton said he expects a large crowd to attend due to the interest he has seen on social media.
