“Detectives spotted a vehicle fitting the description of a vehicle that may have been used to transport the suspect,” Muhannad said. “When detectives performed a traffic stop on the vehicle, Mr. Parker turned himself in without incident.”

Selma authorities responded Thursday afternoon to the 900 block of J.L. Chestnut Blvd. after receiving calls about a gunshot victim, a Selma man in his 40s.

The barber was had a gunshot wound to his left leg and was in critical condition after severe blood loss, according to authorities.

According to Muhannad, the victim and Parker were reportedly friends before an altercation that led to the shooting.

“Jokes were made, which led to the disrespect of the victim’s family and Parker’s niece,” Muhannad said Thursday.

Parker is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing at the Dallas County Courthouse at 1:30 p.m. Monday, District Attorney Michael Jackson said.

Attempted murder is a Class A felony, according to Selma Police. If convicted, Parker could face up to 10 years to life in prison and $60,000 in fines, according to Muhannad.

The investigation is still ongoing and other charges may be pending, Muhannad said.
