Let’s back our newly elected leaders

Tuesday we went to the polls and had a say in who the leaders would be in our state.   We should all be proud of the voting numbers, as it looks like Dallas County had a fair turnout at the polls. That shows the rest of the state and our local leaders that we care not only about our community but about what happens in the other parts of Alabama as well.

A lot of familiar faces were elected locally as many candidates ran unopposed. Locally there was only one contested race, which was for Dallas County Board of Education district five, so it was uneventful night for many of our local candidates.

But it won’t be an uneventful future.

All of them will surely be faced with the challenges facing the state of Alabama, as well as Selma and Dallas County, in their time in office and will need our backing to be confident in our decisions.

That’s why it’s important that we come together to support our newly elected leaders, regardless of which party you represent or who you voted for. Our leaders deserve the backing they need to be successful in their new roles.
