UPDATE: Man found with gunshot wound to head

A man in his 20s died Sunday in Selmont, the victim of a gunshot wound to the head.

Selma Police Department officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 600 block of Johnson Street at approximately 5:50 p.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived, they found a black male in his mid-20s lying on the ground with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound, according to Sgt. Evelyn Ghant.

The man received aid from Care Ambulance but died before he could be airlifted to a trauma center.

The Selma Police Department’s Detectives Crime Unit is working a possible lead in the case, according to Ghant.
