Three juveniles are behind bars and facing second-degree robbery charges stemming from a robbery that occurred Thursday evening on Marie Foster Street.

In a news release, Selma Police investigator Lt. Curtis Muhannad said officers responded to a call regarding a robbery at the China Wok restaurant in the 1300 block of Highland Avenue at 8:41 p.m. Thursday evening.

Police met with the victim, a 51-year-old woman, who told officers she had been robbed by three black males while she was entering the China Wok restaurant on Highland Avenue.

The woman told investigators the three men approached her from behind her as she entered the restaurant and slammed the door on her right arm, forcing her to drop her purse, which was then picked up by one of the men before all three men fled the scene.

“The victim had some swelling and bruising on her arm as a result of this attack,” Muhannad said. “She also had $4,000 cash in her purse at the time. She was making preparations for a three or four day family reunion, and so far, we’ve been able to recover $500.”

In the release, Muhannad said a witness who had viewed the altercation from the parking lot recognized one of the offenders.

Using the witness’ information, Muhannad said officers were then able to arrest all three suspects Friday afternoon.

Muhannad said the $500 was found on one of the suspects when he was arrested Friday. He also said investigators are still working to determine where the remaining $3,500 is.

Muhannad said two of the suspects are 16-years-old, while the third is 17. All are being held at the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center on second-degree robbery charges.
