A Selma resident is set to appear on a new upcoming MTV reality show meant to help young people find true love.

Selma resident Coleysia Chestnut has landed a spot on MTV’s “Are You the One?” as a cast member. The show will help 10 single women and 10 single men who have had trouble finding love find their perfect match, according to MTV’s website.

“They called me and they told me I was going to Hawaii, and I remember falling out, and the security guard had to call and come get me,” Coleysia said as the recalled the moment she learned at her job in Huntsville that she was selected to be on the show. “It was crazy. I was so excited. That was one of the best days I’ve experienced.”

The case will be out through a rigorous matchmaking process using a unique dating algorithm created to help quantify compatibility, according to MTV’s website. It also state that the recommended matches for the 20 singles with the objective of meeting the perfect partner.

If all 20 people find their perfect match within 10 tries, they will split the biggest cash prize in MTV history, according to their website.

Coleysia, the daughter of Pastors Coley and Tonya Chestnut of Fresh Anointing House of Worship, said she hasn’t been a romantic relationship for more than nine months. She said that she figured the people of the show would be more successful of helping her find her match.

“It kind of stuck out to me, because I haven’t been in a successful relationship,” she said before adding that her last relationship was in 2010. “Well, obviously I can’t pick them myself, so I figured why not go all the way out of the box and let somebody else pick it for me on national television. If you are going to do it, you might as well do it big.”

Coleysia, a 2008 graduate of Selma High School, said that the Selma community has supported her since she release the news that should be a part of the series.

“I put it on Instagram, and Selma people, like they went crazy,” she said. “Everybody was retweeting it and Facebooking and Twitter. They were really supportive.”

The “Are You the One” series featuring Coleysia is slated to air Tuesday at 10 a.m. on MTV.
