Tipton, who is the parent of a child enrolled at Meadowview Christian School, suggested Robertson visit, because she thought it would the city would profit from his appearance in more ways than one.

“As a Meadowview family, we wanted to do something that benefits Selma,” she said “We know if we had an event like this that Selma would benefit not only economically, but also spiritually. “

About 6,500 general admission tickets, which are $35, are only available online at ticketalternative.com.

She said the school was considering availability when determining ticket prices.

“Most of the time, you see these tickets on sale to the general public for a couple hundred dollars.” Tipton said. “We wanted to be able to present this event where almost everyone could afford it.”

She said the tickets are a great stocking stuffer for the Christmas season.

Anyone looking to sit close to the Robertson can purchase $100 sponsorship tickets, which would seat them on the infield in front of the stage.

“There are some tickets available, but they are actually selling fast,” Meadowview Christian School headmaster Renee Callen said.

Tickets are selling fast, especially the $1,000 meet-and-greet tickets that allow people to meet Robertson prior to the service and get a picture with him. Half of the 50 tickets originally on sell have been sold. Couples can purchase those same tickets for $1,200.

During the event Meadowview Christian School students will be collecting offerings for Alabama Teen Challenge, Save a Life of Dallas County and Integrity Worldwide.
