The Dallas County Hornets steamrolled John Essex 68-22 Friday afternoon during an in-school basketball game.

Dallas County jumped out to a 53-6 halftime lead, led by star power forward and UAB signee William Lee and a full court press that forced a lot of turnovers.

“I thought early on if we could force them to play a lot faster than they wanted to play, we were going to create a lot of turnovers that led to easy baskets,” Dallas County head coach Willie Moore said. “They sort of played into our hands with that.”

Lee showed why he was recruited so hard, with three powerful dunks in the first half, highlighting a day where he filled the stat sheet. Lee finished with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals in 19 minutes of action.

But he wasn’t the only Hornet that had a big day.

Jarrod Moorer made two first quarter threes to help the Hornets get off to a quick start. John Essex struggled to score the entire game and was shutout completely in the second quarter.
