Joseph James Braxton Sr., 76, resident of Selma, passed away October 6, 2013 at Baptist South, Montgomery, AL. Services are scheduled for October 12, 2013 , 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Joseph Coleman. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Garden Cemetery directed by Miller Funeral Service of Selma.

Mr. Joseph James Braxton Sr. was an employee at R.L. Zeigler until he retired as well as a Retiree of the Army and Alabama National Guard. He was a member of Saint Paul Church until he died. He attended public schools in Selma, as well as Selma University where he received an associate degree, and numerous awards and honors.

He is survived by wife, Ollie Braxton; Michael Shelton, Constance McCants, Shirley Levin, Joseph Braxton, Jr., Cassandra Reese, and Sheila Shine; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
