Ellwood Christian 52, Holy Spirit 15

The Eagles got a big night from quarterback Jalen Furlow, who totaled four touchdowns and 223 yards rushing on nine attempts. After falling last week to Francis Marion in part to seven turnovers, Ellwood Christian held onto the football this week.

The Eagles led 22-0 at halftime. Rayford Mitchell also added a touchdown, scoring on a 42-yard run to finish the scoring. Next week Ellwood Christian takes on area rival Keith (2-0).

Keith 32, Sunshine 13

The Bears got a big night from Delmus Irby, who scored three touchdowns. Quarterback Maurice Crumpton also had a solid game, rushing for a score and throwing a 35-yard touchdown pass to DeAnthony Griffin.

Keith trailed 13-6 at halftime, but grabbed the win because of a strong second half. Running back Domonique Jones ran for 122 yards on 11 carries. Next week the Bears host Ellwood Christian.

 

Jackson 59, Selma 21

The Saints were behind big early on against Jackson, who took a 52-7 lead into halftime. Jackson won region class 5A, Region 3 last season and appears on pace to challenge for it again. Next week Selma hosts Citronelle, who fell to Demopolis 31-14 Friday night.

 

Central-Clay Co. 27, Dallas County 0

The Hornets stayed within striking distance against the Volunteers, but in the end Dallas County was unable to find the endzone.

Central-Clay County led 24-0 at halftime, adding only a field goal in the second half. Next week Dallas County will host Beulah, who lost 32-0 to Childersburg on Friday night, in another Class 4A, Region 3 matchup.
