Rufus “Daniel” Godwin, born September 7, 1931, passed away August 20, 2013 at his home in Selma, AL after a brief battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Selma Furniss Godwin; son: Eugene (Sara) Godwin; sister: Fannie Dale Williams; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Godwin, Alan (Emily) Godwin, Jason Godwin, Michael (Nicky) Godwin; two great grandchildren: Jade Johnson, Justin (Victoria) Johnson; one great great grandchild: Dalton Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel was a long standing member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and retired from Bush Hog after 44 years of service.

The family would like to thank everyone that has helped them through his illness and send a special thank you to the nurses of Cahaba Hospice

Visitation will be Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Services will be at the funeral home Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with graveside following at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Paul Smitherman, Bo Campbell, Tommy Godwin, James Jones, Don Phillips and Roger Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Snodgrass, Gene Garrison and Ed Morrow.
