State Rep. David Colston,

I was disappointed to read your op-ed in my local paper. As a business owner and active board member of the Business Council of Alabama, your views on those against education are very concerning.

We employers are the largest consumers of the education system, a system that needs vast improvement. Innovative ideas that make the system more accountable and place students’ needs first must be pursued.

I can assure you the members of the Business Council of Alabama are pro education for all the right reasons. We need bright and motivated people entering the work force to help our member companies remain as competitive as possible and thus improve our state economy for all.

As someone who serves on the small business committee, it surprises me you don’t share the same views.
