H.L. “Tooty” Taylor

H.L. “Tooty” Taylor, died peacefully on July 8, 2013 at the age of 85. He was a Selma native and longtime resident of Selma, Alabama where he served as City Councilman and was a respected businessman. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Claire Oliver Taylor of Selma; brother, James Taylor; and sisters, Joan Hadaway Sims and Yvonne Fowler. Tooty is survived by his brother, Col. Jack Taylor of Centerville, OH; his children; Connie Taylor Wiggins (Larry) of Gadsden, AL; Kaye Taylor Chamberlain (Scott) of Bostwick, GA; Richard Harrell Taylor (Mary) of Mobile, AL; Debra Taylor Baumhauer (Daly) of Mobile, AL; Stacey Taylor Ousley of Mobile, AL; and son-in-law, Robert Ousley of Somerset, KY. Tooty’s surviving grandchildren are Taylor Wiggins (Anna) of Gadsden, AL; McKinley Wiggins (Stacey) of Birmingham, AL; Justin Chamberlain (Heather) of Rutledge, GA; Ryan and Richard Chamberlain of Athens, GA; Mary Sears, Richard, and Sage Taylor of Mobile, AL; Robin C. Herndon, IV of Mobile, AL; Adele Herndon of Washington, DC; John Daly Baumhauer, IV of Mobile, AL; Mary Claire, Emily, and Elizabeth Ousley of Somerset, KY. Tooty’s great-grandchildren are Carson, Hayes, Allie and Mary-Kate Wiggins; McCall and Scott Chamberlain; Ainsley and Emerson Wiggins.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Lawrence Funeral Home in Selma, AL followed by a graveside service at New Live Oak Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
