With area schools approaching summer break and high-action films hitting the box office, Sharon Diggs Jackson of the Selma Walton Theater said she’s expecting large crowds at the theater.

“We’re off to a great start,” Jackson said of the summer movie lineup. “We have some fabulous movies that we’re excited to show.”

Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow, was such an immense success that Jackson said she and her husband, David, decided to show it three weekends in a row.

“The demand has been there for Iron Man 3,” she said. “I’ve had people call in and request that we keep showing it. ”

Memorial Day weekend, Fast & Furious 6 is set to debut at the Walton. With so many high-action films, Jackson said she is looking to show a more family-friendly movie soon.

“We have Star Trek coming and Superman so we’re just excited that we’ve not only been able to acquire the movies, but also that people have been coming out to see them,” she said. “We’re energized and pleased to see that the crowds are starting to come.”

Admission for adults is $7.50 and children ages 2-12 are $6.
