James Duke Logan, Sr., a resident of Tyler, AL; passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the age of 86. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elwood Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Pine View Gardens with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing. Mr. Logan is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Oliver Lee Logan, 10 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Logan, sons, James Duke (Terresa) Logan Jr., Donald Bruce (Mary Vicki) Logan, daughter, Brenda Logan Godwin, grandchildren, Will (Jennifer) Godwin, Whitney (Dustin) Godwin, Davis Logan, Anne Catharine Logan, Laura Lee Logan, Anna Clair Logan, and 4 great-grandchildren. Mr. Logan was a Veteran of WWII and The Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Logan’s Grocery Store for 50 years. Active pallbearers will be Dave Lyon, Jim Mason, Lane Holladay, Chris Sermon, Raymond Ingram, Mike Spivey, and Gerald McNeal. Honorary pallbearers will be David Lyon Sr., Vander Ingram, and John Tindoll. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until service time at Gassett Funeral Home.
