Lady Hornets fall in road trip to fourth-ranked Holtville

DEATSVILLE — What had the makings of a Dallas County victory turned into another night at the ballpark, as the No.4 Holtville High Lady Bulldogs scored 10 unanswered runs to defeat the visiting Dallas County Lady Hornets 13-3.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 3-0 lead as Brittney White and Celeigh Denny scored on an Ariel Atkinson double.

Dallas County’s Ashton Primm singled to clear the bases and cap the Lady Hornets’ scoring.

The rest of the night belonged to Holtville.

Hannah Ray drew a walk and scored on a Kara Wilson double.

Wilson scored when North Florida State signee Kendall Cox reached on an error. Tonibeth Garner (Chattahoochee Valley) singled to clear the bases.

With the game knotted 3-3, Holtville’s offense roared to life rattling off nine runs on eight hits to take a 12-3 lead at the bottom of the third inning.

Chontanee Combs ended the game in the bottom of the fifth.

The Lady Hornets will return home to on April 4 at 4 p.m. when they’ll play Isabella.
