Shots fired in Vaughan’s parking lot

A woman is in custody after reportedly shooting at an unidentified male in the parking lot of Vaughan Regional Medical Center earlier this afternoon.

According to Selma Police, the suspect, 21-year-old Shanequa Peoples, fired at another individual in the parking lot of Vaughan. The intended victim was not struck by a bullet.

Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley said officers were called to the scene and were given information on the car Peoples left in. The car was spotted and stopped on J.L. Chestnut Boulevard moments later near Calhoun’s.

Inside the car, Riley said officers found a small handgun and a large butcher knife.

Peoples, a resident of Marion, has been charged with domestic violence reckless endangerment, being a person forbidden to carry a firearm and discharging a firearm with the city limits.

Peoples was placed in the Dallas County Jail under a $2,000 bond.
