AISA Class 3A Region 2 tourney first round scores

The following are the boys and girls scores from round one of the AISA Class 3A Region 2 tournament at Morgan Academy on Thursday, as well as the time and matchups for day two of the tournament on Friday.

The region tournament at Morgan will conclude on Saturday with the boys and girls third and fourth place games and championship games determining which teams advance to the AISA Elite 8 in Montgomery on Feb. 6-8:

Tuscaloosa 60, Escambia 50

The second-seed Tuscaloosa Academy Knights defeated the third-seed Escambia Academy Cougars 60-50 on Thursday.

Torrence Brown led Tuscaloosa with 25 points, while Sam Brown had 12 points for the Knights.

Garrett Kirk led Escambia with 20 points, while Jordan Sasser had 16 points for the Cougars.

 

Kingwood 88, Monroe 52

The first-seed Kingwood Christian School Lions defeated the fourth-seed Monroe Academy Volunteers 88-52 on Thursday.

Silas Edwards had 15 points for Kingwood, while Montez Haynes had 12 points, and Josh Purvis had 11 points for the Lions.

Caleb Smith led Monroe with 19 points, and Hunter Glass had 14 points for the Volunteers.

 

Girls

Monroe 57, Kingwood 51

The third-seed Monroe Academy Lady Volunteers defeated the second-seed Kingwood Christian School Lady Lions 57-51 on Thursday.

Brooke Higdon had 18 points for Monroe, while Hannah Watts had 11 points for the Lady Vols.

Madelyn Pearce led Kingwood with 24 points, while Blair Holsenbeck had 19 points for the Lady Lions.

 

Escambia 55, Bessemer 32

The second-seed Escambia Academy Lady Cougars defeated the third-seed Bessemer Academy Lady Rebels 55-32 on Thursday.

Grayson Emmons led Escambia with 16 points, while Lacie Flowers had 14 points for the Lady Cougars.

Hannah Kitchens had 20 points for the Lady Rebels.
