Robber gets 20 years

Wednesday, In a Dallas County Courtroom, Curtis Hall received a 20-year jail sentence for a crime committed on Oct. 20, 2011.

Hall, 29, was found guilty of armed robbery 1st degree of the Dollar General, 701 Roosevelt Ave.

According to the Dallas County District Court, Hall, along with another black male, entered the Dollar General minutes before closing wearing masks. After pointing a handgun at a store employee, the two demanded all the money from the safe be handed over. Hall and his partner, later identified as John Gilchrist, made away with $463. After leaving the store, Hall and Gilchrist traveled on foot back to Highway 80 East, over the railroad tracks back to Gorgas Drive.

Hall was found guilty of the crime on Nov. 8, 2011.

“We are going to keep sending these gunslingers off to prison for a long time,” said District Attorney Michael Jackson.
