The Meadowview Christian Trojans held off a late comeback to defeat the Jackson Academy Eagles 45-38 at home on Thursday.

Damion Dillon, assistant boys basketball coach of Meadowview (8-7), said the Trojans got things together down the stretch after a timeout.

“Toward the end, we got a little sloppy and we had to call timeout to get our bearings back,” Dillon said. “We held it together and knocked down free throws to win the game.”

A 3-pointer by Clayton Thornton early in the third put Meadowview’s lead at 38-25, but Jackson’s Colby Lucas hit three free throws to cut the lead down to 38-28 with 4:13 left to play.

Lucas sparked a stretch where Jackson outscored Meadowview 11-0 to make it a 38-36 game with 2:21 left.

But Thornton hit another jumper and Travis Stacey hit a pair of free throws to push the Meadowview lead to 42-36 with 50 seconds left.

Shawn Long hit a shot to cut the lead down to 42-38 with 38 seconds left, but Dylan Lawrence and Thornton hit free throws down the stretch to lock up the win for Meadowview.

Lawrence led Meadowview with 15 points, while Stacey had 14 points and Thornton had 10 points for the Trojans.

Lucas led Jackson with 15 points.
