BankTrust welcomes Stewart home

Selma native Andy Stewart has made a transition in his local banking career. He has worked for several banks in town throughout the years but said he has now returned “home” to BankTrust where he is now a commercial loan officer and senior vice president.

It has been said that locally minded people are globally progressive and Stewart said his drive for serving people locally is what he is most excited about — serving Selma while at BankTrust.

“I worked previously at People’s Bank which was bought out by BankTrust,” Stewart said. “Its good to get back to some of the people I have worked with over the years. I was really surprised at all of the familiar faces I saw that are still here since I had been gone. So it’s like coming home … it just feels comfortable.”

Stewart was born and raised in Selma and that could be why, he said, he is so passionate about serving the people in the city and the community.

“Coming back here [to BankTrust] will allow me to help serve customers in Selma,” Stewart said. “I’m real excited about being able to bank folks in Selma again because I was born and raised here, I went auburn and I came back home and its really all I know.”

He is also pleased to work with the team he once worked with, people like John Chisolm, the area president, as well as those on the lending team at the bank like Lee Calame.

BankTrust is soon to become Trustmark, and Stewart said the ideals and principles of Trustmark really align with what his career mission is on the local level.

“I love Selma, so that is why I am glad to be joining this team. People’s Bank before, and BankTrust presently, and Trustmark, really like small towns and small town markets — so that really jives with what I like to do,” he said. “I really came here to help folks in Selma and me and my family will remain in town … our roots are pretty deep here.”

Stewart can be reached at the BankTrust office on Broad Street, 334-418-8237.
