The man who reportedly fired shots into the Downtown Sports Bar on Saturday, Nov. 3 and was then shot multiple times by one of the club’s security guards, has finally been arrested, charged and booked into the Dallas County Jail.

Amorian Smith, 21, was served with an arrest warrant Friday, charged with attempted murder and placed in the Dallas County Jail under a $1 million bond.

Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley said Smith was arrested after what Riley said was “his hospital stay and recuperation period.”

Smith is being charged in connection with the incident that saw him be removed from the club — located on Water Avenue — by security guards around 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. Riley said Smith then went to his car, got a gun and then came back and started shooting, “firing from the street into the bar.”

Riley said at that point, a bar security guard inside the bar returned fire, hitting the suspect twice, once in the chest. After being shot, Smith fell to the ground outside the club.

Smith was transported to Montgomery and was — at the time — listed in critical condition.
