Serving as one of the key players in the Lady Senators’ win over top-ranked Clarke Prep School this week, Megan Leigh Siddens is the female athlete of the week.

Siddens is a key player for the Lady Senators in their run to a No. 5 ranking in the Alabama Independent School Association.

Siddens, who serves as one of the team’s senior captains, also played a big role in Morgan’s 3-1 win over No. 1 Clarke Prep School, including spiking the go-ahead point late in the final set to help seal the victory.

Jennifer Moore, head volleyball coach of Morgan Academy, said Siddens’ role as an attacker at the net has been crucial for the Lady Senators throughout the season.

“So far, just her attacks on the net have really given us an edge over a lot of our opponents that we’ve played,” Moore said. “Her ability to work with the other front row player — who is Anna Kate Mock-Jordan — they really set up a good block together for the front line. When she’s up there, it’s very strong with her height and the heights of my other front row players.”

Moore said Siddens has also shown improvement on the court.

“Her serve has come a long way this year,” Moore said. “Her passing has improved considerably, as has everyone else’s. She has a love for the game and she wants to win.”
