Nation’s freedom is so fragile

“In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.” This quote made by the late Ronald Reagan during his first inaugural address was not about the Affordable Care Act, but well could have been. Reagan warned about socialized medicine as far back as 1961.

“One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project, most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it,” he said.

I believe when the average Joe on the street becomes aware of what is actually in the Affordable Care Act and it is fully implemented, conveniently after the election, they will be shocked and infuriated. Freedom is such a fragile thing. Once lost, it’s often irretrievable.

There are just too many misrepresentations with the government take over of a sixth of the American economy. The individual mandate was sold to Congress as a penalty, not a tax.

Reportedly, the Obama administration’s solicitor general argued it as a tax before the Supreme Court in direct reversal of how it was presented to Congress. I’m not aware of a single major news source calling Obama’s hand on this obvious misrepresentation of the individual mandate.

Who’ll pay for this massive government power grab? We’re told that only 50 percent of the people pay federal taxes. How are you to collect a tax from people who do not pay taxes in the first place? It will create another massive IRS bureaucracy (16,500 new agents) to harass poor working citizens while they are now allowing billions in fraud to flow to non-citizens using Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers.

Ultimately, the burden will fall on the taxpaying hard working middle class. Seventy-five percent of ObamaCare taxes will be paid by families making under $120,000, according to a senior economist at The Wall Street Journal.

The administration now admits that most group health plans will lose their grandfather status in 2013 thereby breaking the promise of individuals being able to keep their health care plan. The list of misrepresentations goes on and on, how pathetic.

Thomas Jefferson said: “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
