CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A domestic dispute turned deadly Monday in Clayton County, Ga., when an Orrville-woman allegedly stabbed her mother to death.
Takeyia Guthridge, 24, was taken into police custody after reportedly stabbing her 44-year-old mother, Deloise Adu, seven times in the chest, shoulders, head and arms, according the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The incident occurred just hours after a judge gave her seven days to vacate her Jonesboro, Ga. home.
She was charged with murder and aggravated assault and booked into the Clayton County Jail, according to a press release from the Clayton County Police Department.
Atlanta-based Channel 2 Action News reports Guthridge confessed to stabbing her mother because her mother was evicting her. Court papers show Guthridge was upset about the eviction and said her mother knew she was moving into the house rent-free and unemployed.
Guthridge has been arrested at least twice prior to Monday night, including at least once locally. In 2009, she was charged with two counts of theft and receiving stolen property and booked in Georgia.
Two years later, she was charged with domestic violence in the third degree, criminal mischief in the first degree, attempted arson in the first degree and resisting arrest and booked in the Dallas County Jail.
She remains in the Clayton County Jail, awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 19 and a bond hearing on June 29.
