Cornerstone stumps Ellwood menPublished 9:52pm Saturday, February 4, 2012
D.J. Edwards led the Eagles with 14 points, while Sheppard added 13 points, and Jalen Furlow had 12 points.
Moore led the Chargers with 30 points, while Payne had 20 points.
Moore was named the tournament most valuable player, while Sheppard was named to the all-tournament team.
The Eagles will next play in the AISA Class A state tournament with their first game at Faulkner University in Montgomery on Friday. The Eagles are still waiting to find out who their opponent will be, but they’re heading back into the gym to make sure they’re ready no matter who it is.
“We’ve just got to come in the gym, practice hard and go back to basics,” Hendrieth said. “They (Cornerstone) kind of knocked us off our high horse. We’ve been on a six-game winning streak, so it’s better to lose now when it didn’t really matter than to lose next week.”
